About Mateo
Mateo Gonzalez is a sound designer and composer dedicated to crafting impactful auditory experiences across a range of media. With a diverse creative toolkit, Mateo brings a holistic approach to his work, blending digital production, synthesis, sampling, field recording, sound manipulation, and mixing and mastering to create everything from subtle atmospheres to visceral soundscapes.
Mateo began his creative journey studying game design, where he developed a deep appreciation for the collaborative, multidisciplinary nature of interactive media. It was through courses in sound design and synthesis that he discovered his unique path, combining his passion for music, gaming, and film to shape immersive experiences through sound. His work bridges artistic vision with technical skill, allowing him to contribute meaningfully to multimedia projects while staying true to his musical roots.
Currently, Mateo is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Music at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he has studied under Dr. Ted Moore and Martin Schmidt. He also holds an Associate’s degree in Music Business and Performance Technology from Austin Community College, with a focus on Digital Composition, and has studied Computer Simulation and Gaming at the University of Tulsa.
Mateo is actively developing his technical knowledge and furthering his search for all things that sound cool. Hailing from Austin, Texas, he misses good barbeque while out of state for school and chooses to be a fan of the Houston Texans rather than the Dallas Cowboys.
